The study presents a regionalised tool to estimate hydrological characteristics for ungauged catchments in the Mekong Basin. The study uses Regional Flood Frequency Analysis to develop a set of empirical equations for calculating hydrological characteristics of ungauged catchments in different climatic and topographical zones of the Mekong Basin. The regression based approach uses catchment attributes as independent variables to calculate hydrological characteristics as dependent variables and consists of two principal steps: the formation of hydrologically similar regions; and the development of prediction equations.
