ICEM expertise and tools for nature positive results

Over the last 25 years, ICEM has developed tools and methodologies to support national and local governments, communities and the private sector in analyzing challenges in achieving ecological sustainability and in defining and implementing action priorities. We have worked through piloting and demonstration, capacity and institution building, collaborative research and policy studies, networking and knowledge dissemination.

Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation

The Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (CAM) Methodology is a proven, adaptable framework tailored to the Asia-Pacific’s climate challenges. It supports governments, communities, and sectors in developing climate-resilient strategies by combining international best practice, field-tested tools, and decades of experience in environmental and socio-economic assessments.

Decision Support System

To support planning and early warning across the full range of ICEM competencies, including climate change, energy, water, biodiversity, integrated assessments and disaster risk reduction, ICEM specialists have engaged in developing innovative Decision Support Systems (DSS).

DSS’s are web-based tools that visualize data and can be easily used by user groups. These data, mainly sourced from geospatial data, address particular concerns of sustainable development, for instance, in supporting long-term planning and investment decisions in climate change or providing flood forecast warnings to government and local communities.

Environmental and Social Surveys

At ICEM, we use environmental surveys to build a clear picture of what’s happening on the ground—where the risks are, what’s driving them, and how best to respond. These insights are essential for shaping effective policies, guiding investments, and ensuring sustainable, climate-resilient development.

GIS and Spatial Analysis

At ICEM, we harness Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to help our partners understand patterns, assess risks, and develop evidence-based strategies for sustainable development and climate resilience.

Integrated Assessments

Integrated Assessments ICEM has extensive experience in managing integrated environmental assessments – which consider natural, social and economic systems. Our approach reflects a longstanding commitment to ecological sustainability and social equity. It promotes ecological sustainability as a foundation for development, taking into account processes and issues which cross sector and administrative boundaries.

Modelling and Data Management

At ICEM, we harness Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to help our partners understand patterns, assess risks, and develop evidence-based strategies for sustainable development and climate resilience.
