Project Description
The assessment of road and trail construction in Chu Yang Sin National Park (CYSNP) was initiated to support park management in minimizing environmental damage from infrastructure development. The study specifically targeted the East Truong Son Road and an expanded trail network running through the park. The project ensured that park authorities had access to the data and analysis needed to negotiate with construction stakeholders, protecting the ecological integrity of the park during and after construction.
Objectives, Activities and Results
The primary objective was to identify potential environmental impacts from road and trail development and propose practical mitigation strategies. The assessment provided actionable recommendations to manage both construction-related disturbances and long-term effects of increased access and usage. Park staff were actively involved in the assessment, enabling capacity building and ensuring knowledge transfer. Findings were shared with relevant decision-makers and construction companies, equipping them with science-based guidance to inform better project planning and reduce harm to the national park’s ecosystems.
