Wetlands in Odisha are critical for biodiversity, livelihoods, and climate resilience, but are increasingly under pressure from climate change, extreme weather, and human activity. To support stronger wetland management and adaptation planning, ICEM delivered a Climate Risk Assessment and Adaptation Planning training in June 2025.
The presentation introduces participants to the Climate Assessment Methodology (CAM), guiding them through three key phases:
-
Impact and vulnerability assessment of wetlands, species, and ecosystem services
-
Adaptation planning to identify and prioritize feasible measures
-
Implementation and feedback to ensure resilience-building over time
Using case studies and interactive exercises, the training built capacity among local stakeholders to apply climate risk assessment tools, integrate findings into wetland management plans, and design practical adaptation strategies.
