PROJECT NAME: GIZ Meking River Commission – Joint Project on Flood and Drought Management

About the project

Since 2018, Cambodia and Thailand have worked together to achieve joint benefit through transboundary management of flood and drought via the Joint Project on Flood and Drought Management in the 9C-9T Sub-basin. The shared 9C-9T sub-basin area encompasses the Tonle Sap basin upstream in Thailand and the Stung Mongkol Borei basin downstream in Cambodia, eventually carrying water and nutrient to the Tonle Sap Lake. The overarching objective of this regional cooperation project is to increase capacity for transboundary integrated water resources planning and improved water security with consideration to future flood and drought patterns.

This 9C-9T Sub-basin Atlas is a foundational tool that supports these objectives with a shared knowledge and information to inform joint basin planning, management and investment in building resilience to flood and drought.
