HANOI, VIETNAM — June 29, 2015: ICEM Launches New Resilience and Green Infrastructure Resource Kit for Mekong Towns

As the impacts of a changing climate begin to appear across the GMS, it becomes increasingly important that Mekong towns develop strategies to adapt and thrive. The Resource Kit for Building Resilience and Sustainability in Mekong Towns is a seven-volume kit that contains the tools to do just that.

Based on the award-winning work of experts and practitioners from the GMS and abroad, the resource kit brings together a set of strategies to assess climate vulnerability in key systems in Mekong towns and the nature-based strategies needed to strengthen these systems.

Each volume has been translated into the national language of each participating country, opening the volumes up to speakers of Khmer, Vietnamese, and Lao.

About the project

Over the course of two years, workshops and field visits brought together scientists, planners, and government officials in three towns in the GMS—Battambang, Cambodia; Dong Ha, Vietnam; and Kaysone Pomvihane, Lao PDR—to conduct vulnerability assessments and design green infrastructure solutions for some of the most complex infrastructure issues they face. This work culminated in a regional knowledge-sharing workshop in Kaysone Pomvihane in July 2014, the first of its kind in the GMS.
