ICEM views biodiversity conservation—both within and beyond protected areas across rural and urban landscapes—as essential to human well-being and long-term sustainability. We lead and manage projects that restore and protect habitats in community forests, protected areas, farms, and urban settings. Our work applies specialized expertise in ecological agriculture, urban renewal, nature-based and hybrid solutions, and innovative financing to enhance the productivity, resilience, and ecological sustainability of development.
ICEM initiated and continues to lead the Protected Areas and Development (PAD) program, now in its third phase, involving Mekong countries and a wide network of international and local conservation partners. We have played a central role in designing collaborative conservation approaches across the Mekong region, the Coral Triangle, and the Pacific Islands.
For decades, we have supported efforts in forest and wetland restoration, the identification and establishment of biodiversity corridors, and the sustainable management of biodiversity areas of international importance. We work closely with communities on collaborative governance, sustainable use of non-timber forest products, and long-term biodiversity stewardship.
